At Abylai Khan KazUIR&WL, the series of lectures promoting a healthy lifestyle, physical, and mental well-beingcontinues. 01.04, 2025, a lecture on “Mental Health: The Key to a Quality Life” was delivered for students of the Faculty of Translation and Philology.
The lecture was conducted by Muhabbat Armanovna Nizamudin, a clinical psychologist, Master of Social Sciences in Clinical Psychology, a specialist from the Sergey Sklyar Psychotherapy Center, a member of the Eurasian Association for Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy, and a university psychologist.
Muhabbat Armanovna emphasized that suicidal thoughts are a serious issue affecting many people, especially young individuals. She highlighted that while suicidal thoughts and behaviors can be prevented, understanding their causes, signs, and the importance of timely psychological support is crucial. During the lecture, she thoroughly explained the primary causes that may lead to such extreme situations.
The psychologist also stressed the importance of recognizing early signs of depression and other mental health disorders among young people. She pointed out that timely support and intervention are the key steps in preventing tragic outcomes.
Another important topic discussed was stress resilience. Today’s youth face numerous stress factors, including academic pressure, personal life challenges, and societal expectations fueled by social media. Muhabbat Armanovna emphasized that stress management is a skill that can and should be developed to effectively cope with life's difficulties.
Additionally, the importance of emotional and psychological well-being was highlighted. The psychologist explained how family, friends, and social support play a crucial role in maintaining mental health. She also underlined the significance of emotional intelligence and self-awareness, which help individuals recognize changes in their emotional states in a timely manner.
Students actively participated in the discussion, asking questions and sharing personal experiences. This lecture helped them understand the importance of psychological support and the fact that there is always a way out of any difficult situation.
