On October 19, the "Korean Cultural Day" took place on the central promenade of Ablai khan KazUIR and WL, organized by the Department of Education of Gwangju (Republic of Korea), with the support of the Center for Korean Studies Ablai khan KazUIR and WL.
High school students from South Korean schools, who are outstanding scholars, came to Kazakhstan to introduce Kazakhstanis to traditional and contemporary Korean culture. They also aimed to learn about the history, culture, traditions, and customs of the Kazakh people.
South Korean students prepared an engaging cultural program. They showcased a variety of Korean dishes, engaged in traditional Kazakh games like yutnori, tukhonori, and chegichagi with Kazakh students. South Korean students performed traditional Korean dances as well as modern K-pop dances, which are beloved by youth not only in Kazakhstan but also in many countries around the world.
Almaty school students and college students studying the Korean language also came to meet their South Korean counterparts. The event was informative and interesting for KazUIR and WL students, who enthusiastically participated in games and savored Korean street food and delicacies.
By the way, this event was one of many organized by the Center for Korean Studies Ablai khan KazUIR and WL and the Faculty of Oriental Studies since the beginning of the academic year. These events were attended not only by university students but also by college students and high school students from Almaty.
